Demolition contractors to gather for 'Demolition Day'
Demolition contractors from across the country will descend on London in October as the National Federation of Demolition Contractors stages the first ever 'Demolition Day.'
The industry event will take place on Tuesday, 12 October 2010 at the Britannia Hotel in London's Docklands. It will see a host of demolition and safety experts take part in a range of seminars and displays, all aimed at sharing the gathered knowledge and experience that will serve to enhance the work of demolition operatives.
According to the Federation, this one-day event is intended to provide an educational but also entertaining forum for delegates from across the construction sector. It will see a mix of practical case studies, training and auditing initiatives and the handing of waste arising from the demolition process.
A Federation spokesman said, "Demolitioin Day will provide a unique insight into the workings of the UK demolition industry: its hopes, its aspirations, and its challenges."
A key area the day will focus on is how the industry is leading the way in the recycling and reuse of so-called waste products to maximise resource efficiency and minimise the levels of waste to landfill.
The day is being backed by representatives of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Waste Resources Action Programme (WRAP) and Building Research Establishment (BRE).
